Canada Day Weekend!!

Happy Canada Daaaaaaay!!!

Damn I'm happy to be a Canadian. Wouldn't trade it for anything in the world!

We went to Ottawa on Saturday morning. It was a bit of a bummer though because Darryl woke up with a headache and it got worse as the day went on. By the time we got to Ottawa, Poor Darryl was in pain and went right to bed. He got sick that night...blaghhhh!!! Nasty. Poor Purdy. We ended up taking him to the hospital on Sunday morning as he was still sick. He's fine though. Guess it was just a bug. We hope. The doc gave him some drugs for the headache and he was better this morning. Too bad he spent most of the weekend in bed!!

Anyhow, I did get to enjoy some of the Canada Day weekend with Duane, Cathy, and the kids. Their community had some activities going on and we took part!

This was at the Greely Community Hall (where Duane and Cathy live). They had some cool creatures that the kids enjoyed.

Shamus too. I felt like we were back in Nova Scotia. A cute, small community where everyone knows each other. I really enjoyed it.

Ah, Shamus was pretty excited when he saw the fire trucks. He got to "drive" so that was probably his favorite part of the day.

Back to Duane and Cathy's for more fun. The kids were on the trampoline all weekend. Shamus was getting pretty confident on it. Very cute!

This morning we got out to enjoy the hot tub. Very nice. The weather was perfect for it. Not too hot, not too cold. So, nice way to start the day!!

We also went to a farm not far from Duane's. Very nice spot. Beautiful landscaping, and some animals to check out....horses, deer, ostrich....

So, even though Purdy was feeling under the weather, we had a nice Canada Day Weekend.

Sunday night we went to the Fireworks. Poor Shamus. I thought he would enjoy it but it was too loud and he wanted to go back to the Yukon (Duane's vehicle). So, we watched most of it from the car, but Shamus kept his eyes covered the whole time. I felt bad for him but it was kind of funny too! Watching him cover his eyes...and every now and then he would take a peep between his fingers.

The fireworks were excellent but I guess we'll try Shamus again next year!!

I did have a great sense of pride when I was watching everyone at the fireworks. I was feeling very patriotic. We live in a wonderful country. Canadians are easy-going, kind, and fun to hang with! We may pay a lot in taxes but we live in a peaceful country and I'd rather that than living anywhere else!!
