Quick Update...

Just wanted to let you know that we didn't get our internet hooked up this week. :(
Yeah. The internet company canceled on us and now it's not being hooked up until next week. And we can't get our computer working. Not sure what happened but Darryl's been trying since Friday and no luck yet. So, we are now totally out of touch with everything/everyone. Can't even listen to music or watch movies on the laptop! We're at Rej and Clo's right now - they were very sweet and invited us over for breakfast this morning. And offered their computer so I could at least do a quick post!! Thanks guys! And thanks for the yummy breakfast!

Sorry to our folks as we haven't been able to call or even write but hopefully Darryl will get the computer working soon and the internet will be connected by Tuesday. Hopefully.

But, putting this in prospective - we went to the Anzac Day parade yesterday. Anzac Day is like Remembrance Day in Canada. The parade was really good. It really felt like being back in Nova Scotia as there was a lot of piping bands and kilts! And these type of ceremonies always choke me up. I get very emotional as I can't imagine what those men and women must of went through. Having lived thru a war/fought in a war must be the most difficult thing to experience. So, Darryl and I feel it's really important to always celebrate Anzac Day/Remembrance Day. To show our support and give thanks to all that fought for their country.

So, not having the internet really isn't that big of a deal! :) We'll survive! Just miss our families lots and wish we were in better contact. But, soon!!

We'll post again once the computer is back up and running. And once the internet is hooked up!

Happy Anzac Day and a Big Thank You to all the men and women for fighting for our freedom.

Is it Christmas?

Ahhhhh!!! 3 of our boxes have arrived! Hooooray!!! Wow, it was exciting! We couldn't remember what was even in them so it was truly like Christmas. We waited until the kids went to bed last night and then Darryl and I opened them up. So, when they woke up this morning...Christmas!! Just no tree :)
Most of the stuff was the kids toys, books, and puzzles so it was really nice.
Besides that, all is well. Sorry for not keeping up with the blog or emailing. I'm getting tired of not having the internet at home and tired of going somewhere else to try and use it. I'm at the library right now! The kids fell asleep on the way home from South Bank so I thought that I should take advantage of the "quiet time". But, we are getting the internet hooked up this week! So, I promise to catch up on my emails this week! Really! Thanks to everyone for emailing me. Appreciate it and I'll be writing back soon!!
Not much new. Darryl's boss (on his team) took their team Lawn Bowling last Friday. Kind of cool. I thought it was like bowling but just outside but it's actually like curling. He had lots of fun and I thought it was really nice of the company to do. Then of course there were drinks to follow. We did some city sightseeing over the weekend and then to a BBQ on Sunday. One of Darryl's coworkers invited us over. Everyone at the BBQ was from Canada or the USA so that was nice. And everyone had kids so that was nice too!
Once we have our internet I'll be updating more often. And I'll be checking out the other blogs!
Oh, and some quick news - my family and Darryl's family will be happy to hear that Darcy George and Erin are expecting their First Baby!!! Congrats guys! We're so happy for you. Keep us posted!!!

Darryl's Very Happy Birthday!!

Darryl's birthday was on Friday...Happy Birthday Babe!!...so I decided to let the kids take on the whole cake baking task. We all really enjoyed ourselves and they did a super job!

Very serious about their cake-making job!

The final result! Shamus picked out the candles we used and the sprinkles.

Darryl relaxing outside while we got his candles lit! (this is the front of our house by the way...and yes, I will post house pictures soon!)

Shamus loved singing Happy Birthday! He loves to sing. I think he got that from Uncle Archie...heheee

Of course Shamus and Breagha loved the choclate cake.

So, I had a little birthday surprise for Darryl. I had made plans with a babysitter (a girlfriend of Darryl's coworker...and Breagha LOVES her so a big bonus) to come over after supper and hang with the kids. While I took Darryl out on a harbour cruise. It was really nice!

This is the walk down to the docking area...the city is beautiful at night.

There are restaurants, cafes, pubs, etc all along the waterfront.

The Story Bridge. No idea how it got it's name.

On the top of the boat. It was a beautiful way to see Brisbane at night. The water was so calm. The cruise also included dinner and live entertainment so a super evening with my honey!

The view from the boat. Not sure the name of the bridge.

We had a wonderful evening and I hope Darryl had a nice birthday!!

...and see my Races pics below!....More fun!

And the Day at the Races...

On Saturday, Pandemic hosted a Ladies Day and took us to the races. The races is a very big deal in Australia and everyone gets very dressed up. Some women will wear hats or fascinators (a fancy feather/hair ornament) too. I was pretty excited to go and the atmosphere was great. We all had lots of fun and thanks to Darryl's company as they also paid alot of money on drinks/food for us too. And paid the taxi bill for everyone. It was also a wonderful way for me to meet more girls. There are a lot of immagrants so we're all trying to meet people!!
On the red carpet...me, Clo (from Quebec), Amy (from England), and Kate (a true Aussie but lived in Canada)

I took a couple of pictures of the track for Dad! I'm hoping that this will get him over to visit!! It was a beautiful track. The first one that I ever saw where the horses ran on grass and not dirt.

They had a really good band. And strippers!! Yeah, I didn't take pictures of that...just take my word for it.

The girls studing the program. Clo was really into betting and finally won on the last race!!

Another view pic.

I like this picture. Everyone hangin' over the fence...with their fancy clothes and drinks!! Seemed so very "back in the 1920's" or something. I really enjoyed it!!

Damn they were fast!

We were in the "Go Red" section. Sponsored by the heart foundation. So, everything looked very red under the tents here. And this is why alot of girls wore red dresses...it was a theme.
Then we were taken back to the city and dropped off at the Fringe Bar. Where Pandemic bought everyone more drinks/snacks. They were very generous!!

The 2 girls beside me are also Canadians...from Vancouver. Sonya's (in the hat) boyfriend works with Darryl and Erin works on Darryl's team.

The Pandemic girls that organized our day. Vanessa and Aurelia work in the HR dept.

And my last pic of the night. We'd been going about 12hours at this point so I think we did pretty good!! This is me with Trish...she is also in the HR dept. at Pandemic and helped organized the day for us.

We all had a super time and I'd love to go back to the races again soon!!

Thanks All...

Thanks for all the positive input guys! Breagha has done much better the last couple of days. I think we were more worried about Shamus adjusting...since he is older...and didn't even think that things would bother Breagha. But, Shamus has been great. Breagha has been doing well since Sunday. Like her old self. And Darryl and I even went out last night!! What a treat!! Steve and Cari babysat while we went to the movies. Oh, I like movie theatre popcorn! That was my highlight! Sad but true!!

We figured that we really needed to get Breagha away from us for a while. So, Cari and Steve offered to babysit so we totally took them up on the offer! Shamus and Breagha both did well. So, we're going to try and find a babysitter soon so that we can get the kids used to time away from us.

Other than that, I also want to say Thanks to everyone that has been reading our Blog. I know that everyone has their very busy lives and we really appreciate that you take the time to see what we're up to and a bigger thanks for writing comments! It's my only contact with home right now so Thanks Very Much!!! And I think that more people should have blogs...so we can see what you're up to too!

New Home...Going Well....

So, we moved into our new place last weekend. Saturday and Sunday was totally spent buying stuff for the new home. Very hectic. We went to bed on Sunday around 1am...after getting everything brought over from our temporary apartment. I don't know how we manage to have so much stuff!!

We're pretty happy with the new place. It's just a small townhouse but it's quite nice (nicer than we thought actually) and it's in a great location. It also has a garage so at least we can store some things...like camping gear...out there. So, we like it!! I will take some pictures but we still aren't settled in so give me another week!!

That's all the news. Everyone is doing well. This weekend will be more quiet - getting settled in and hangin' with the kids. Darryl's been working lots and Breagha is getting terribly obsessed with me. Not kidding. It's bad. I can't even leave the room and she panics. And she isn't adjusting well to the new place. She's not going to bed well...we have to sit on the floor...and she's waking up at night. This is just since we moved into the new house. So, I hope it's temporary and she'll swing back to herself soon!!!
